December 2020

 GOODBYE 2020 - HERE'S YOUR HAT, THERE'S THE DOOR.

Another 'Stay at Home Month'.  Covid clusters keep happening.

Early December I took the dogs for a walk at Lake Ginninderra and there must have been thousands of cicadas hatch overnight.  They were on grass stems, tree trunks, signs and anything to get them off the ground.  Birds were having a feast.

European Starling beating a cicada before eating.

Remaining photos were taken either in our garden, or on my morning dog walk in Umbagong District Park or along Parkwood Road.  Everywhere grass is waist high or higher, and very dense.

Kangaroos were coming out onto the mown grass to feed.

Morning mist rising from Ginninderra Creek.

Sunshine on grass.

I had a great year for Kangaroo Paw in the garden.

Kookaburra is a regular on the walk.

Damselfly resting on the bottlebrush.

Red-browed Finches are hard to find this year - so much feed seed around.

Horsefield Bushlark with grub.  I printed this one for the wall.

This gang had to investigate the dogs and me.

NOVEMBER 2020

November has been a very quiet month.  No travel, only morning dog walks around Ginninderra Creek, and a couple of mornings fishing - once on Lake Burley Griffin and once on Lake Ginninderra.  I had cataract surgery done on my right eye mid November, and that cut down my driving until the surgeon said I could proceed (with care).  Reviewing the month's photos, there seems to be an inordinate number of Tawny Frogmouth photos.  With two nesting pairs in my walking range, probably not surprising.
