August 2017

Welcome to the August collection.

Lake Ginninderra sunset

Over the years I have taken a number of photos from Shepherds Lookout, and this month I took the drone there to get photos looking towards the viewing platform and the cliff.

Looking back at Shepherds Lookout

We spent a few days at Congo, just south of Moruya on the South Coast NSW.  Wonderful sunrises, sunsets, calm creeks and wildlife.

One of my daily walks with the dogs includes the West Belconnen Pond in Dunlop.

On 27 Aug, son Jim and I planned to drive up into the Snowy Mountains to try and photograph wombats in the snow.  That day also coincided with a heavy snowfall closing the back road to Adaminaby for a while and trapping a number of two-wheel drive vehicles.

Unable to get through to Adaminaby, we turned back to Yankee Hat carpark for a couple of hours.

After a couple of hours, we thought that enough heavy 4WD vehicles would have been over the road and assisted the stuck vehicles.  The snow had stopped, so we pressed on towards Adaminaby, stopping at Brayshaw's Hut.

We had no luck in finding wombats in the snow, but there was no shortage of wallabies and kangaroos.
