May 2021

 Canberra is getting c o l d e r.  Autumn and and went.

Self sown Japanese Maple - getting larger  and very bright against the gums.

Spent a morning at the Canberra MotoX, mainly to see Ad's stall where he and mates sell clothing, but to also get some action photos.

We travelled north to Queensland's Sunshine Coast for 10 days.  Took a trailer load of 'stuff' north for Des's bother and family, had a break from Canberra, took photos, bought a secondhand kayak, and generally relaxed.  We rented a 4 bedroom house at Peregian Springs at a very reasonable cost, and across the road was bushland with lots of birds - mostly very noisy, but hard to find.

Pair of Little Egrets among the waterlilies

This little Egret kept chasing after a black Cormorant, feeding off what came to the surface.

Royal Spoonbill also among the lilies

This is what is called a slide-on motorhome

Esme rescuing her ball at Sturmers Creek Dog Area

Lots of dogs with their owners strolling the beach - very windy day.

A bit rough out on the water.

Plumed Whistling Ducks on the morning dog walk.

Peregian Springs Bushland

Where does the prevailing wind come from?

On the way home we passed this wall.  We did a quick 180 at the bottom of the hill to return and photograph it.

Back home - the Tawny Frogmouth pair seemed to have settled in for the winter, this time in a Casurina.

There was a rustle in the grass!  I think the mouse plague is coming to Canberra.
