June 2022

 Sorry I am late, but I have been on a road trip up to Darwin.  More of that in the July issue.



A cold snap brought snow to the Brindabellas to the west of Canberra.


Even the Kookaburra puffed up to keep warm

Surface along the Stuart Highway heading north.  We could see where the road had been cut by floods earlier in the year, and SA Roads still had crews out repairing the damage.

Black kites were a constant along the Stuart Highway.


We had a quick stop at Karlu Karlu (Devil's Marbles) - the rock formations cover a large area and provide a spectacle in the changing light.

Darwin's dinosaur, Big Kev, has been relocated from it's landscaping beginnings to Bunnings


Esme has a kangaroo treat inside the kong


Osprey completed eating a fish on this limb while I was watching.


Galahs, Corellas, Red-tailed Black Cockatoos and Sulphur-crested Cockatoos wheeling against a smokey sky.  The seasonal burning was in full steam (smoke) ahead mode.


Red-tailed Black Cockatoos descended in large flocks onto the burnt ground to feast off scorched Pandanus nuts
